At  At their recent meeting, Councillors discussed the following-

Village maintenance. The Parish Council regularly monitor areas needing maintenance such as footpaths, potholes, or overhanging foliage, if there are any other areas needing attention, it would be appreciated if you could inform the Clerk. Village lighting standards have been surveyed and some repairs are to be made.
All the grit bins have now been refilled.

Road Safety. Regular speed checks are now being carried out in the village.
County Highways have been allocated some extra funding to deal with all the potholes caused by the bad weather, please report any details to the Clerk.

Planning. Councillors attended recent District Planning meetings where the regional
strategy for housing was discussed. The number of new houses to be built in
Warwick District between 2010 and 2026 is still to be confirmed and it is
probable that the Government's view on this may only be known after the
election. However there will be a consultation period on possible sites for
development between February 26th and April 9th this year. Maps indicating
where these possible sites are will soon be available from Warwick District.

Councillors also attend the Warwick Rural West Community Forum, held quarterly at different venues. This is an opportunity to liaise with other representatives from the police, district and county on matters of concern. Grants are also available, and have recently been awarded to six applicants for schemes as varied as vehicle activated signs, refurbishment of play equipment, and a project with older people’s groups.

The newly formed Parish Plan Steering Group will be distributing a questionnaire to every household soon. It is hoped as many people as possible will complete this and provide valuable information on what the residents of Leek Wootton & Guys Cliffe wish for the future of their community. Funding has been obtained to help cover costs.

The next Parish Council meeting is Tuesday 9th March 2010 at 7.30 pm. Agenda and other details will be on the website.

RURAL SPEED INITIATIVE

The Parish Council have tested a new speed gun which has been made available through the Safer Neighbourhood Panel.  This was carried out at locations along Warwick Road. It was amazing how slow cars crept through once they spotted the device being pointed at them. Warwickshire Police Safer neighbourhood officers also attended. Given it's impact the gun will be in use again on future occasions. The gun gives an immediate speed reading of cars in either direction. Enforcement action may be taken when the Police are in attendance, otherwise registration numbers and speed may be passed on to the Police.

  • DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE PLAYGROUND

  • There have been more complaints about dogs fouling the public areas in the village, particularly the recreation ground.  There are plenty of dog bins, please use them.  It is an offence to allow dogs to foul public footpaths, and very unpleasant for anyone playing on the field. Thank you for your consideration.

  • A new dog bin has now been installed at the entrance to the Golf Club. When taking dogs over the golf course public footpaths, please do not allow them to roam over the fairways.
